April 2024
This month at TCG was filled with ups and downs with a very successful staff event, a beloved colleague moving on and another DSW hitting an important milestone.
This month’s milestones:
Staff event – TCG Bowling night
New Support Coordinator
Worker highlight - 5 years at TCG
Staff event – Did someone say bowling?
This month we got to do one of our favourite things: Catch up with our amazing staff members and their loved ones at General Public arcade! Joined by our team of wonderful Disability Support Workers we chatted up a storm over a bite to eat, hit the bowling lanes and ending the night with some fun at the arcade.
A big shoutout goes to our superstar Disability Support Worker Kerri-Anne, who received our most esteemed award after destroying the rest of us in bowling with a high score of 105! Check out Kerri with her trophy.
See the rest of the fun:
Goodbye Sam, Welcome Tali
As with all things in life, good things come and go. This month our wonderful Support Coordinator Sam let us know she would be starting an exciting journey and moving on to the next chapter. Sam has been with TCG since 2020, moving through Disability Support, Team Leading, and most recently smashing it in Support Coordination. Sam has been a big part of making TCG a fun and inclusive place to work and with her caring attitude and amazing work ethic, we know our participants will miss her just as much as we will. We wish you nothing but the best of luck on your new adventures Sam, you will be missed!
To Tali we say a big welcome as she takes over as our newest Support Coordinator. Tali was a fantastic DSW with us at The Companion Group and it was bittersweet to see her leave us last year to foster her skills in Support Coordination. Lucky for us, Tali missed the team at TCG and enquired recently about available positions just in time to take over from Sam. We are very excited to have Tali back onboard in a new role and can’t wait to see what she achieves.
Worker highlight – 5 years with TCG
This month our wonderful worker Tran hit 5 years with The Companion Group! I asked her some questions about her time with us.
5 years at TCG, how do you feel about hitting the milestone?
Tran: The 5 years I worked in TCG were a memorable part of my life.
What have you liked about working with The Companion Group?
Tran: The TCG office team always support me when I need them. They made me feel I’d never stay behind. I would like to say Thank you so much for your support to the TCG office team. Much appreciated!
How have things changed since you started?
Tran: I came to Australia 9 years ago. When I was looking for a job, I met Paul (previous TCG Director). Then, I got this job. This job changed my life in Australia. Happier life, Better life!
Favourite memory/memories with a participant/s?
Tran: The best thing for me every working day is for my clients to say “thank you for everything you do today” and their smiles.
Tran: Any advice for new support workers?
Just do the best you can.
Great answers! Thanks to Tran for all her hard work with us over the last 5 years. We look forward to many more.
What a busy month! That’s it for the blog, see you in May.
